LEARNKulanu (High School)

Madrichim [9th – 12th Grade classroom assistants on Sunday mornings]

This program is for high school students who want to contribute to our school and gain experience as Jewish educators. Ninth and tenth grade students may join us and receive community service credits. Selected eleventh and twelfth grade students will receive financial compensation for their time in the classroom. All madrichim attend workshops to learn teaching and classroom management skills and engage in a reflective process in which they think about, ask questions and discuss their time in the classroom. They serve as role models for our younger students and strengthen their commitment to and understanding of Jewish learning.

Contact Rabbi Austin Zoot for details.

High School at Kulanu [Sunday Nights]

Our religious education program for youth continues through the end of 12th grade.  We participate in KULANU:  The Cincinnati Reform Jewish High School on Sunday evenings with the high school students of Rockdale Temple, Wise Temple, and Temple Sholom.  Each year, students join with other students in their grade for bonding and learning during one bell, and take electives during their second bell. Rabbi Kopnick teaches the Valley Temple 10th grade students, and either teaches the 12th grade seminar, or an elective for 9th and 10th grade students. Visit the KULANU website to find out about the current selection of electives.

Confirmation/Graduation

Our religious education program for youth ends at the end of 12th grade.  We participate in KULANU:  The Cincinnati Reform Jewish High School on Sunday evenings with the high school students of Rockdale Temple, Wise Temple, and Temple Sholom.  Our program concludes with a Valley Temple Graduation service–where we also include confirmation.  While some congregations confirm at the end of 10th grade, Valley decided years ago to keep with the spirit of confirmation by celebrating at the end of a student’s Jewish education. Even though the Valley 10th grade will meet with Rabbi Kopnick while the other congregations’ conduct confirmation classes, our ceremony is held in May of their senior year.
