Selichot with Cantor Yvon Shore
Begin the High Holy Day season by attending an adult education session at 8:00 p.m., followed by a dessert reception at 9:30 p.m. At 10:00 p.m. we will mark the end of Shabbat with a Selichot service and the candle, wine and spices of Havdalah. Selichot, which means forgiveness, previews the Ten Days of Awe (Rosh Hashanah through Yom Kippur). You will not want to miss this special service, which includes prayer, songs, and dressing our Torah scrolls in their white covers.
This year's adult education session will be taught by Cantor Yvon Shore, Director of Liturgical Arts at HUC-JIR. She will also be our cantor-in-residence for the selichot service.
