COMMUNITYYouth Group
The Valley Temple Youth Group is an essential part of our youth program. Brian Meeron is our Youth Group Advisor, and he is a member of our religious school faculty, and on the faculty of Walnut Hills High School, one of the most prestigious magnet-public schools in the country.
The youth group is affiliated with the North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY). In addition, our students gather three or four times each semester for social and social action outings. The year’s highlight is the youth group’s Purim Carnival, which is their only fundraiser of the year. The carnival is filled with wonderful games and prizes, and the high school students create the experience for the entire congregation—from start to finish.
We encourage our youth groupers to participate in city-wide youth activities, to take advantage of the generous Israel trip grants provided by the Jewish Foundation of Cincinnati, and to attend (and then become a staff member) of Goldman Union Camp Institute or another Jewish camp.
Previous youth group events have included: putt-putt golf, bowling, dinners before or after the KULANU High School program, a Muslim-Jewish dialogue with a local mosque, participation in Rake Day, and more. More and more students are also participating in the regional youth weekends of our NFTY-Ohio Valley Region.
