Adult Hebrew classes begin after the HHD.

Other Adult Education opportunities at The Valley Temple include:
Torah Study on Saturdays at 9:30 AM – No experience required! Come explore and discuss the weekly Torah portion with Rabbi Kopnick or our intern, Brian Nelson.
Lunch and Learn – two Mondays a month (once downtown at the law office of Jon Hoffheimer in the Mercantile Library Building on Walnut Street and once at the Temple). Join Rabbi Kopnick to take a look at contemporary issues and their Jewish responses. Issues include hot topics from the news, Israel, and matters of ritual or observance.
Adult Hebrew– four levels from beginner (no prior experience) to advanced. Come learn the language of our liturgy and the Torah!
Bimah Book Club – participants read selected books and participate in a discussion with Rabbi Kopnick at the Temple. Past titles have included: My Promised Land by Ari Shavit, People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks, A Time to Every Purpose by Jonathan Sarna, The Lemon Tree by Sandy Tolan
Special topics and speakers– series have included: Let’s Read the Bible, Pathways through the Prophets, An Evening of Understanding, with a Rabbi Kopnick and a local minister (questions and answers about why we do what we do and what Christianity incorporates from its Jewish ancestry), Reflections on the Primary Season from an MTV Reporter
Selichot – adult learning opportunity leading into the High Holy Days with a scholar-in-residence. Topics have included: Jewish A Cappella, Atonements, Apologies and Excuses: Saying ‘sorry’ in the 21st century, Prophets and Profits and the Economics of Enough, You Can Go Home Again: Memories, Meaning and Loss.
