The mission of the Valley Temple Sisterhood, as part of the Women of Reform Judaism, is to promote connections among the women of Sisterhood, our children, the Temple, and our local and global communities. We aspire to achieve this goal by providing opportunities for spiritual, social, and intellectual growth while sharing our resources and support with the educational, religious, and recreational programs of The Valley Temple.
Our Sisterhood is affiliated with the Women of Reform Judaism.

C’hai Life Membership The Valley Temple women of Sisterhood have been doing a program called Chai Life since 2004. This program, originally called Jewels, began as a way for Women of Reform Judaism members to include their daughters ages 18 and younger in Jewish programming. But we found out almost immediately that many of our sons also wanted to participate. So we renamed our group Chai Life and it includes all of our children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.Chai Life is Sisterhood’s way of helping its members introduce the camaraderie that Sisterhood provides to the special young people in their lives, so that when they are grown, they will understand that Sisterhood is a special place to express Jewish values.Chai Life programs typically occur at noon after religious school on Sunday and there are 4-5 programs throughout the year. We usually offer pizza for lunch for a small fee before starting. Chai Life programming has included:
- making fleece blankets for Project Linus,
- decorating planting pots for parsley for the Passover plate,
- designing art with Jewish calligraphy,
- making Hanukkah cards for elderly congregants and community members,
- making Hamantaschen baking for Purim,
- participating in yoga and self-defense workshops.
Membership fees are $9 for each child (maximum of $18 for two or more) which goes towards the cost of programming. Membership forms are mailed each fall with the Sisterhood membership forms. Keep an eye out for them and join in on the fun!
